In the subject of Language Arts, students advance their understanding of reading strategies to support analysis of literary and informational texts. The writing that students do consists of persuasive, creative, expository and reflective writing. Other fundamentals of language and vocabulary growth are also developed yearly. The topics in Math include numerical operations, geometry and measurement skills, algebra, and advanced topics in the later years.
In Social Studies and History, an introduction to laws is undertaken. Children develop an understanding of the need for laws, as well as the purpose of rules and regulations in maintaining the safety of the community. Learners also develop an understanding of the structure and function of local, state, and federal governments. The relationship between legislative bodies, executive bodies, and judicial bodies is analyzed, with students considering the checks and balances that each branch of government exerts on the others.
