Educating Our Parents: Understanding the San Leandro District Curriculum

In English/Language Arts, the subject is organized around reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. These areas helps to develop critical thinking, interpretative and analytic skills in students. In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. Over the years, this compounds their procedural knowledge and draws out their problem-solving, and logical and mathematical reasoning skills.

In other academic courses and specialized programs like Advanced Placement or a small school there are also curriculum that describe the expectations for learning and explain how other learning areas will be introduced into the student's coursework.

San Leandro District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The Common Core Standards are used for the subjects of English/Language Arts and Math and they describe the broad areas of learning and then details the skills and knowledge integral to these areas.
