Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Savannah District Curriculum
SCCPSS offers several after school learning opportunities to further aid students in core content proficiency. Most notably is this districts' Twilight program that allows students who are lacking credits or need to recover credits to attend classes that are smaller and that offers more direct one on one instruction opportunities. This is a unique opportunity as it combines on-line learning with direct access to instructors and classrooms.
SCCPSS also has a rigorous program for students that are academically gifted and talented. This program uses the same core curriculum as all schools in the district; however, the information is combined with outside resources that enable the teachers to offer more challenging assignments and lessons to these students which keeps them engaged in the learning process. view all Savannah tutors

Chalk Talk: Should I Put My Child in a Gifted Program?
It is a question that many parents ponder upon. What are the positive aspects how will it affect my child? Allowing a child that excels in academics to participate in a Gifted and Talented Program is a very wise choice. If you are fortunate to have a gifted child by all means put them in a gifted program where they can thrive. Socially they will still be in classes with children from varied backgrounds and educational levels and they will still be able to learn social skills that are needed to cope in the real world. There are no draw backs to students participating in these programs. Aside from this program they also have programs for bully awareness and prevention and competitions in technology with categories in graphic design, software design, and animation.
