Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Shasta Lake District Curriculum

The broad areas of math covered in the curriculum are numeracy, algebra, geometry and data analysis. In the Sciences, students develop fundamental knowledge in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology. Each curricular guideline specifies the age-appropriate skills that students will gain each year.

In Language Arts, students develop strategies for reading and writing across genres. They also develop essential interpretative and communication skills as well. As students progress in their education and enter specialized programs, or as they embark on a charter school experience, the curriculum will explain how other academic subjects will be integrated into core teaching and the types of learning opportunities that will be available.
