Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. Matthews District Curriculum
The Mathematics goals for each level are delineated and your child is encouraged to meet these regularly. For instance, numbers are introduced from the very first days of school and then use of numbers is developed throughout the years. Algebra and Geometry are important aspects of the curriculum and planned so that your child develops these skills incrementally through his or her education.
Literacy is an important part of the curriculum in St. Matthews. Your child is taught to read and then is presented with a variety of reading materials in fiction and non-fiction. There are programs in place to help your child to keep up to the standards and goals set by the department and carried out in the schools. If your child is struggling there are many resources that you can ask your school to provide. There are summer reading and family reading programs also available.

St. Matthews District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The schools in St. Matthews follow the curriculum of the Kentucky Department of Education although local curriculum management is observable. There has been a complete curriculum management audit in recent months in the schools, of which St. Matthews is a part, to assist with developing local goals. There are new academic standards being followed since this audit that are more rigorous and will make your child more prepared for college and beyond. The new standards increase the amount of analytical work that students do while also providing more real world connections for their learning.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Reading for Lifelong Pleasure
Reading is a very useful skill that everyone should be able to enjoy. Reading is essential for learning and for figuring out how to do things but reading is also for fun. Some people read fiction for fun and others read non-fiction. Some read everything for enjoyment. If a child is a good reader he or she will read for fun. Therefore early reading skills are tantamount to lifelong reading pleasure. If a child becomes proficient at reading he or she will enjoy it. There is a very large world out there of reading pleasure. Libraries, book stores, reading tablets, and the like are full of printed words are just there for the enjoyment. Teach your child not only to read but to read well and you will have given them a pleasure source for life.
