St. Matthews District and Curriculum

The schools in St. Matthews follow the curriculum of the Kentucky Department of Education although local curriculum management is observable. There has been a complete curriculum management audit in recent months in the schools, of which St. Matthews is a part, to assist with developing local goals. There are new academic standards being followed since this audit that are more rigorous and will make your child more prepared for college and beyond. The new standards increase the amount of analytical work that students do while also providing more real world connections for their learning.

The Mathematics goals for each level are delineated and your child is encouraged to meet these regularly. For instance, numbers are introduced from the very first days of school and then use of numbers is developed throughout the years.   • New Technologies - St. Matthews Middle School has wireless ability in all classrooms. This school is up to date with technology in its classrooms. All students receive computer lessons every week.
  • Magnet Programs - Schools in St. Matthews are part of the Magnet Schools system throughout the greater Louisville area. Magnet programs are available in both middle school and high school. Visual and performing arts programs, gifted and talented programs and mathematics/technology programs are but a few of the offerings.
  • Eline Public Library - St Matthews Eline Public Library has children’s programs and story hours regularly on site. It is a busy library with a large circulation and encourages students and their parents to make use of the facility.
