The Truth or Consequences Municipal School District has implemented the state mandated Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in all of the district schools. Common Core provides a coherent curriculum for English and Language Arts and Mathematics ensuring that schools across New Mexico have the same rigorous academic expectations for students. In English and Language Arts students are expected to learn to read, write, speak and listen in English. The emphasis is on developing skills that students can use in college and in the workforce.

In Mathematics, students learn core basic math coursework including computational skills, algebra, geometry, statistics, and measurement. The focus is on helping students to become math literate by the time they complete high school, and be able to apply what they have learned to higher math and in their work.
