Ukiah District and Curriculum

The schools in Ukiah follow the California Content Standards which are designed to provide clear standards for student learning. We currently cover the following Ukiah-area school district: Ukiah Unified School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Ukiah District Curriculum

In Language Arts, it is through strategies in decoding language, crafting written expression, and understanding and analyzing texts that students gain their analytic, interpretative, and evaluative thinking skills. In Math, the skills developed in geometry, algebra, or the analysis of data provides students with the range of problem-solving skills they will need in the more in-depth courses in high school. In Science, the curriculum specifies that students will learn how to investigate and conduct experiments using a scientific method.

All core subjects of Math, Science, Language Arts, History, World Languages, as well as the Arts and Physical Education, have a curriculum that designates the skills and knowledge that students should be developing during each grade. The design of the curriculum is to maximize student learning by relying on prior knowledge to aid students in learning new material in a subject. This allows students to use reflective thinking which is an important facet of problem-solving and analysis.
