Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Wells Branch District Curriculum
Geometry is a part of the mathematics curriculum at Round Rock Independent School District. This course concentrates on the math that is involved with shapes. The students begin by learning the basic characteristics of simple shapes like triangles, squares and circles. In Algebra, students explore algebraic formulas, equations, numbers, and quantities. Students also learn how to calculate probabilities and work with statistics as well. Learners also analyze various types of data, including that which is categorical and quantitative in nature.
The English curriculum is designed to progress step-by-step, to allow each student to become proficient in this area. Students learn to support their ideas with supporting details, and become adept at transitioning from one topic to the next using transitional phrasing. Speaking and listening skills are developed through small and large group discussions. Learners take turns speaking and listening, as well as offering feedback to one another on written works.

SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Volunteering in the Classroom
One way to demonstrate to children that their education is important is to volunteer in their classroom. There are a variety of ways to volunteer. First, many teachers have wish lists for their classrooms. Check the list and purchase one or more of the items for the teacher. Another way to volunteer is to help the teacher with their web page. This is the way that many educators communicate with the families, however, finding the time to work on the site can be difficult for many teachers. If this is something that interests a parent, they should present their idea to the teacher. Another way to give is to share with the class a skill. Perhaps a parent likes working with plants, so they may help with a classroom garden or perhaps they can use a parent's skill will posting classwork or assembling a bulletin board. Any of these areas, and more, are ways that a parent can help the teacher with a skill, or time, while showing a child that the parent see education as important.
