Chalk Talk: Why Math Skills Are Important

Not all kids will grow up to be mathematicians, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t have the basic skills required for everyday functioning. Studies show that kids who grow up with a good knowledge and understanding of math will have children with a good knowledge and understanding of math as well. And math is necessary for daily tasks. Determining tips requires very basic math skills, yet many people have to rely on their phone’s calculator to calculate the appropriate amount. From a skills standpoint, math helps develop analytical and problem-solving skills that are necessary in order to be a critical thinker. An understanding of math will also help children grow up with the skills they need to develop budgets and prepare themselves for a financially successful future.
