In the teaching of Language Arts, students are exposed to many genres of literature, and are required to show comprehension of the material by making connections and reflection using critical thinking skills, such as analyzing meaning, symbolism, and synthesizing the information. Students in Math are challenged to impart their critical thinking skills as well, as they must use the same higher-levels of thinking, such as analyzing and synthesizing mathematical information. Keeping Informed: Recent Yankton Educational News
- Lending a Hand - The Foundation of the Yankton School District 63-3 has granted over 65 awards to teachers this past school year! These “Lending a Hand” grants have helped and will help teachers with classroom materials in order to continue delivering the best instruction for the students. Congratulations to the 67 teachers who received grants this school year from the Yankton School District Foundation!
- Adult Booster Club - Supporting school athletics is very important in encouraging the participation of the fans and the students. The Booster Club also helps with financial assistance, and helps in whatever way they can to support the athletic program. The Adult Booster Club gave $20,000 to area middle school sports, gave $25,000 towards the Yankton High School track. These are just a few of the accomplishments the booster club has done to support the school system.
- Summit Activities Center - The Summit Center provides many activities for the children and adults of Yankton. This facility offers an indoor swimming pool, two gyms, multi-purpose rooms, gym equipment, weights, yoga, and other classes, and much more. There are various sports leagues and many outdoor facilities. This modern activities center is such a huge benefit for the community of Yankton.
