I think it is important to vary teaching based on the student’s way of learning. I believe every students learns material better using whatever method they like and/or understand best. I believe every student can learn math, despite what they may think; some just may need more help than they receive in class. Students need to be encouraged, not discouraged, if they are going to get the most out of their learning experience.
I have a strong passion for math, which is the reason I pursued both my undergraduate and graduate studies in Mathematics.
I have been tutoring for pay since I graduated high school in 2006 and have been teaching at the college level in math since 2010. I enjoy assisting and teaching students in math and love it once they start to really understand the material when they weren’t able to understand it before. To me teaching is more than just having the students do well on a test, I want them to truly understand and remember the information. I have taught students from Pre-Algebra through Calculus and have enjoyed all the courses.
I am an adjunct instructor for math for North Iowa Area Community College. I also enjoy spending time with my husband when I can; he understands my passion for math and has always supported me in that.
