Children should be taught in the way that teaches them best. It is important for the teacher or tutor to adapt to these different learning styles so that the student get the most our of his or her education. Education should be a way to help students to discover what they value most about the world and themselves. As educators, we are helping to shape the future.
I studied Visual Arts at York University in Toronto for three years before deciding to pursue a career in education. This brought me to the University of the Fraser Valley into their General Studies program where I enrolled in the prerequisites for the Teacher Education Program. These prerequisites included two Education Philosophy courses. I am currently enrolled in a Teaching English as a Second Language course where I am getting practice writing lesson plans. I will be completing my undergraduate studies in the next month.
I have have experience volunteering in activity programs with both children and elderly. I also have a large family, so I have been fortunate enough to have had many opportunities to tutor my nieces and nephews.
I have spent the last year volunteering as a foster to dogs rescued from California. I also enjoy studying dance and participating in choir.
