EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

In my personal and professional life, I have always had one guiding principle: be willing and have the ability to teach and learn. It is also necessary for effective learning to have a teaching and learning style that is very interactive (when and where possible), giving students the opportunity to participate actively.

The ability to provide a good recipe (which is the work of the teacher) gingers the probing spirit of students to increase their knowledge which in many ways affects positively learning outcomes and grades. Maintaining a professional relationship is important; however, at the same time one should be approachable.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, graduating with honours from University of Benin, Nigeria. After some years working as a journalist covering social issues, I returned to school for graduate program. In May 2013, I graduated with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Peace and Conflict Transformation, from Centre for Peace Studies, University of Tromso, Norway.
I am currently undertaking Master program in Justice Studies at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have also obtained a teaching certificate in University of Regina.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As part of volunteering for Red Cross International, I taught high school students nonviolent communication skills, Crisis Management and Becoming a Promising Youths: the Dos and Don’ts. From September, 2013 to April, 2014, I worked as a Teaching/Research Assistant to Instructors, in the Department of Justice Studies and Social Work in University of Regina, Canada. During this period, I assisted in teaching also.
During my MPhil program in Norway, I was a Student Tutor and a teaching assistant completely in charge of teaching “Comparative European Politics and State Relations”. Bachelor students from Political Science, Sociology and Community Planning took the course.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Well, I switch between listening to country music and listening to world news during my leisure time. Twice in a week, I go university fitness center to exercise. And I love cooking.
