The key to learning is opening up a student’s mind to the possibilities ahead. Educators are facilitators along the journey and need to find appropriate ways to stimulate student interests, and self-esteem. There is no end to what can be achieved with the right balance of hard work, creativity, and patience.
I started learning and have never stopped. I have a Bachelor’s Degree of Education plus an extra year of addition courses at the university. I have also taken TESL course by correspondence. I continue to take courses to improve my own skills and knowledge. Horticultural therapy, composting/organic gardening courses are most recent.
I have over 10 years experience teaching all subjects to grades 6 to grade 8. Three year experience substituting in K-8 classes. Tutoring experience with ESL learners and junior high exam prep.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking, nature hikes and gardening. I also volunteer for Green Action Centre, Winnipeg Film Group, and schools (running craft sales).
