Students of all backgrounds deserve the best possible educational experience. There is no room for haves and have nots when it comes to giving all students an equal shot at the American Dream. Also, it doesn’t matter how “smart” students are but how hard they work. I believe in the growth mindset versus the fixed mindset.
I have my Bachelor’s Degree in English/ Journalism education and my Master’s in mid-management for educational administration. I did my student teaching in Spain at the naval base there in Rota. I have continued to learn and grow throughout my career and am currently a Blackboard Administrator for my district in addition to all my other responsibilities.
I began my 30-year career in public education as a Teacher of English in Pampa, TX, where I taught sophomore and junior English for 6 years. Since then, I have been an elementary, middle and high school principal. Currently, I am principal of a career/ technical high school as well as the principal of the online school in Amarillo ISD.
I currently am Prsident of the Harrington Regional Medical Center Board of Directors as well as the Venturing District Chairman for Boy Scouts. I am on the cabinet of the local United Way campaign and have taught Sunday School at my church for nearly 25 years.
