EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Educating must be done in a nurturing, positive environment with constructive criticism and positive reinforcement. Students should be encouraged to ask questions and feel comfortable with their teacher. It is important that students understand that there is a bigger picture and that frustration is a part of learning. Nothing comes easy, but working hard brings the reward of feeling accomplished and proud.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a law degree from Syracuse University. I believe my reading and writing skills are excellent as a result of my legal career. My job as a prosecutor enabled me to work very closely with children and learn how to communicate with both younger and older children.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have lectured at Syracuse University for undergraduate criminal justice classes. I also had the privilege of teaching 6th graders in the City of Syracuse, New York, once a week for 4 years about the legal profession. I have graded numerous papers. I have also tutored friends’ children on numerous occasions. I am routinely asked to review or assist on essay papers.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my free time, I enjoy being outside and active. I play soccer, kickball and volleyball. I also love to read and write. I normally read 1-2 books a week. I enjoy traveling; my favorite trip was to Ireland. My family and friends are very important to me so I try to choose activities that allow me to spend as much time with them as I can.
