I, personally, think learning should be fun! I realize that you are at school to learn, but if the teacher can capture a student’s attention by relating what they are supposed to be learning to something they enjoy, they will get a lot further. I also believe that if you can earn a student’s trust and can get them to do their best, they will also more fully enjoy learning. Telling a student you only want their best will get you pretty far with a child.
I have a Elementary (K-6) teaching license, obtained after I finished my degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University. I was always a great student in school myself and I love learning. I hope to go back to school some day to extend my education even further.
I have worked in almost every school in my county at some point since 2010. Although some of these instances were for a short couple of weeks, some lasted the whole semester and I have been in a classroom since 2010.
In my free time I like to read. I spend a lot of time with my nose in some kind of book. I read young adult novels a lot because I love being able to have something to talk about with my students. It also helps to read these kinds of book so you can recommend them to kids once you know their interests.
