Everyone has the right to learn and I want to do my best to help students to learn to the best of their abilities. Not everyone learns in the same way. There are visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners. My goal is to figure out the best way to present material so the student I am working with understands.
I completed my Bachelors of Architecture at the University of Detroit Mercy. That gives me a strong background in Math and Science but also developed my creative side. I attended the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor in 2010/2011 and became certified in Primary/Junior. I have my Intermediate certification in Math and have taken the first Special Education Additional Qualification course. I have also taken Accounting courses at St. Clair College.
I taught preschool for twelve years in Detroit and worked with three to four year old children and Kindergartners. While getting my teacher certification, I was placed in second grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade classrooms. I am currently volunteering in a fourth grade classroom three times a week. Mostly I work with four students who need extra help with math.
I have been part of the team that leads the Children’s Liturgy of the Word at my parish for about three years. Once or twice a month, I plan and present a lesson geared toward four to ten year old children. For three years I have been meeting with a girl through the Book Buddy program at the Windsor Public Library. We meet and read together for an hour once a week.
