I believe that every child can succeed given the right conditions. By creating a climate that is conducive to learning, students are more likely to succeed. It is important to allow students to make mistakes and learn by them.
I have a degree majoring in pure mathematics, a masters degree in math education, and a masters in philosophy (urban education). I am currently working on my PhD in Urban Education (MST)at the Graduate Center in NY. I am currently writing my dissertation based on students experiencing difficulty in mathematics.
I worked as a high school mathematics teacher in Queensland, Australia for 7 years. I also taught mathematics to adults at the Eagleby Learning Center for 3 years.
I have worked as an educational consultant (mathematics) in New York City schools for the last eleven years in both middle schools and high schools. This involved working with math teachers, modeling, demo lessons, and facilitating professional development in the Common Core State Standards.
