My educational philosophy involves the belief of a hands on student centered classroom. I want the students to feel welcome and be active participants in their learning. I have been an advocate of cooperative learning and having students solve problems as a team.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Biology and Secondary Education and am a certified teacher in the state of Pennsylvania. I also have endorsements for Chemistry and Physics. I am currently a STEM educator in which I teach various modules of science, technology, engineering and math.
I have been teaching in the classroom since 1990. I am a firm believer of laboratory activities. I enjoy watching students work in collaborate groups to solve a problem or complete a hands on activity.
I have been involved in various types of extracurricular activities by my favorite has been Academic Decathlon. With this type of activity students are working in teams for some parts of the competition but also are tested on academic questions individually. This event helps students to win as a group but also as an individual.
