I believe education is the key to freedom. I believe that every living being is entitled to an education. Although we all learn differently, we all learn. It is our responsibility to see that all people are given a chance at obtaining an education and that it is up to us, the ones with an education, to help others reach their potential.
I completed all course work for an Ed.D. My own philosophy is that I am a lifelong learner. I pride myself that I am always learning new ideas and try to pass them on to children. I love to work with kids.
I have worked with children and adults for the past 20 years. I helped adults learn to read and complete a GED. I have taught non-English speaking adults how to speak English. I’ve had as many as 11 languages spoken in one classroom. I’ve also trained the trainers for ESL classes. I supervised an AmericaReads Program that helped children in grades K-3 read at grade level. I have tutored in homes, in schools and online for the past five years.
I have always loved to read. I almost always have one or two books (or more) going at the same time. My other big love is going to visit nursing homes and hospitals with my therapy dog, Sundance. We currently are visiting two nursing homes every week. It’s a great feeling to know that someone is a little less lonely and a little happier because of your visit.
