EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe every student deserves an amazing education and, with an amazing education, they can love learning. Some of my best teachers have shown me how much fun learning can be and I aspire to do this in my classroom also.
Through tutoring, I have seen children grow and make continuous progress, which is so rewarding. I believe education is not only a learning experience, but also a growth process. In the classroom, students not only learn material, but also learn more about themselves.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a freshman at East Carolina University working towards bachelors’ degrees in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, and Psychology. I am an active member of the Gamma Chapter at school, which is the mathematics education club. Through the chapter, I have attended lessons on flipping the classroom and 3D printing.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In high school, I had the opportunity to teach a lesson plan in a middle school math classroom for a day. I have tutored children in 2nd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th grade, and at the college level in mathematics and reading including elementary math and reading, pre-algebra, algebra, integrated math, accelerated math, and college algebra.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my spare time, I club swim at East Carolina University. As I said before, I am also a member of the mathematics education club on campus. Loving to read, I always have a stack of books I want to read in my room. I also officiate intramural sports at East Carolina which is a lot of fun.
