I believe every student is able to learn. It is the teachers job to find out where the student is starting from and what they need to make them successful. In my experience, failure is not an option. If the student fails-the teacher failed.
I went to the University of Toledo and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education. I am a certified teacher in the state of North Carolina.
I have taught middle school science and social studies in a large urban school district for ten years. I have taught at a magnet school with and International Baccalaureate program and was later recruited to work in an underperforming school as a strategically staffed science teacher. My most recent teaching focus has been in areas of high need where students are low performing as a turn around teacher.
I have facilitated a community service group, science club, as well as, a student social committee in the past. In addition, I have organized numerous field trips and incentive based activities for students including: Outdoor mountain school, school spirit week, student STEM field trips, field days, and awards/promotion ceremonies.
