Effective WSAS Test Prep
for Wisconsin Students

Understanding
the WSAS

Wisconsin state testing begins in 3rd grade as part of the Wisconsin Student Assessment System. From 3rd-8th grade, students complete the Wisconsin Forward Exam annually in ELA and Mathematics. Additionally, 4th and 8th grade students complete Wisconsin Forward Exams in Science and Social Studies. Once in high school, students take the PreACT Secure in 9th and 10th grade and then the ACT with Writing in 11th grade. These tests cover ELA, Mathematics, and Science. Finally, 10th grade students must also complete the a Wisconsin Forward Exam in Social Studies. For more information on the WSAS you can visit the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website.
