Get Your Child Ready for the WVGSA

SchoolTutoring Academy’s WVGSA Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s WVGSA tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our WVGSA Tutoring Program includes regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the WVGSA

West Virginia state testing begins in 3rd grade via the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA). From 3rd-8th grade, students complete tests annually in ELA and Mathematics. Additionally, 5th and 8th grade students take a Science assessment. Once in high school, students take the SAT in 11th grade covering ELA and Mathematics.  The West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment (WVASA) also exists for students with severe cognitive disabilities. For more information on the WVGSA you can visit the West Virginia Department of Education website.
