The West Fargo public school system is dedicated to “educating today’s learners for tomorrow’s world.” The district is dedicated to providing quality student education by relying on research-based proven teaching methods using complementary school and community resources. Students should expect to receive both knowledge and skills allowing them to quickly adapt to the needs of their community. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education has become a top priority in the West Fargo School District. Students in grades K-12 are expected to participate in a rigorous science and math curriculum.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the West Fargo District Curriculum
The Language Arts curriculum is focused on providing a comprehensive reading and writing education to students at every grade level. Student reading comprehension is measured based upon the range, quality, and complexity of texts that students complete. Students are expected to understand key ideas and details within both informational and literary texts. Mastery of these concepts will allow students to integrate their personal knowledge into classroom-based writing projects.
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum aims to enable superior problem solving skills through the use of collaboration, creativity, innovation, communication, and relevant resources. Basic science principles are taught through multiple individual and group activities. In addition, students are expected to develop mathematical reasoning, communication, pattern recognition, and representation skills. These standards are recognized as an integral part of all STEM learning and, through the curriculum, will be incorporated throughout the students’ educational training.

Keeping Informed: Recent West Fargo Educational News
- North Dakota Teacher of the Yea - English Language Arts teacher Andrea Noonan was named North Dakota's 2013 Teacher of the Year by Governor Jack Dalrymple. Governor Dalrymple stated Noonan was chosen because of her dedication to educational excellence, talent at teaching complex subjects and ability to highlight students' potential.
- STEM Education - Educators from both the West Fargo school system and STEM Center are collaborating with local companies to generate collaborative projects with real world benefits. The goal is to provide students with educational problems that have applications beyond the classroom.
- New Principal - Beginning in August of 2013, Sheyenne High School will gradually become part of the West Fargo School District over the next three years. Greg Grooters has been chosen as the high school's first principal, and he will be instrumental in setting up much of the new school.
