In South Glengarry, the Ontario Curriculum is used to oversee the educational process from instructional planning to assessments of student’s ability. The curriculum establishes subject-specific frameworks that detail the grade-level expectations and these are used as the basis for planning instruction and measuring achievement. The expectations represent the essentials of what students should know and be able to do in the subject at their grade level. These objectives are the building blocks for higher-order learning and their mastery is essential to academic achievement.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the South Glengarry District Curriculum
Math and Science are subjects organized around the idea that students need a broad base of knowledge and skills in order to conduct advanced or specialized work in these technology-rich subjects. From the early years students use manipulatives to help understand counting and then simple addition and subtraction. Students learn about operations, relationships, and quantities in Math, while in Science the ability to use processes to verify conclusions draws upon and informs these growing abilities.
By the middle years the students have progressed to solving equations with missing factors. By the time they graduate they will have the opportunity to master advanced algebra and calculus. Once students are in high school, the Math and Science becomes more focused on broad concepts such as linear equations and relations, geometric functions, biodiversity, chemical reactions, and forces of motion and energy. Students are then prepared for any of the advanced math, environmental science, or technology classes offered.

- Virtual Learning Commons - As Virtual Learning opportunities increase, the Upper Canada District has provide a resource where parents can learn more about what is available. The Virtual Learning Commons also provides parents with an opportunity to serve in an advisory role on issues of eLearning.
- Champions for Kids - Upper Canada Champions for Kids is a community organization that uses their resources to enhance the educational opportunities available to students in Upper Canada. There are a number of fundraising efforts throughout the year and initiatives that community members can work on which give students a chance to connect their learning to the goals of their own community.
