Chalk Talk: Technology to Help Ease the Burden
With a big workload on many students in this country, there is the need to tote books, binders, folders, pens, pencils, even laptops to school each day. Backpacks protrude off students' backs a good two feet and can cause a lot of back and spinal problems. Heavy textbooks are becoming less common as some lucky school districts are able to provide e-books for their students in the form of issuing student iPads or other similar electronics with all of their books pre-loaded on the device. While this is an extravagance not yet available for all schools, it can provide a way for students to cut down dramatically on the weight they are forced to haul on their backs for hours each day. As technology advances and cost decreases, parents and teachers can look forward to lightening the load for their students.
