Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Bowling Green District Curriculum
In English/Language Arts, students are expected to develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as using technology to communicate. Literacy is developed so that students are able to apply reading comprehension strategies in all the subjects they take.
In Mathematics, a common core state standard is applied and students are taught skills that adhere to these principles. Math and Science are part of a partnership program in most schools so that students understand how the two subjects relate. Teachers work closely with faculty in higher learning institutions to enhance their programs.
The core subjects are enhanced by the elective offerings that each school district makes available to students. One major goal of the curriculum is for students to make connections within their learning opportunities, and it is often the electives that help students realize the value of the core academics.

Keeping Informed: Recent Bowling Green Educational News
- Leader in Me - This year the public schools in Warren County are starting a program to teach students to become leaders now where they are being educated and later in their cities. This is part of the character education learning and social development that the schools are also focusing upon.
- STEP Program - Thirty-four students from the five high schools in Bowling Green have been accepted into the STEP (Students Turning Education into Potential) Program. This program is designed to develop leadership skills and to show students leadership opportunities within their community.
- Net Zero School - The nation's first Net Zero school has been selected in Bowling Green. Richardson Elementary School is scheduled to be the first school that will not use traditional energy to run but will rely entirely on solar panels.
