Salem District and Curriculum

The goal of Salem-Keizer Public Schools (Oregon School District 24J) is to ensure that every student is a life-long learner. With the proper tools, guidance, and education, every student can positively contribute to their community and the world around them. The Strategic Plan followed by the district schools is compiled from data and research from the Balanced Assessment System, and focuses on four main areas: Student Achievement, Educator Tools and Support, Leadership Development, and Public Engagement.

We currently cover the following Salem-area school district: Salem-Keizer Public Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Salem District Curriculum

Each school in the district is focused on transitioning to a National Common Core (CCS) Standards, and aligning
The instructional framework coherently in grades K-12 so that teaching, learning and assessment are transparent. Using clear objectives that progress students’ skills year to year, and which can be accurately gauged and adjusted as students’ progress from kindergarten through grade 8, provides the necessary base of knowledge for high school and beyond.

Teachers and administrators are provided with an extensive Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) online resource to ensure that Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science teaching are all implemented and assessed to the elevated Common Core Standards. Using this learning guide, Salem school students can be assured to be guided to their highest scholastic expectations.
