Concord District and Curriculum

In an effort to effectively meet the needs of Concord’s diverse student population, the district has adopted a working backwards methodology when creating curriculum, beginning with the desired end results and developing instruction based on those results. Students are expected to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in six areas: explanation, interpretation, application, perspective, empathy, and self-knowledge.

We currently cover the following Concord-area school district: Concord School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Concord District Curriculum

Within Language Arts, students are expected to communicate their ideas effectively in a variety of mediums, including written, spoken, and technological. Evaluation, research, and inference are all important skills which the Concord School District works to develop at all levels, helping students to understand the world around them. Reading fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and exposure to fiction and non-fiction texts are all important aspects of the Concord Language Arts Program. Both Math and Science focus on critical thinking and inquiry skills. The Science curriculum emphasizes an understanding of the function of organisms, the physical properties of our world, and how technology has influenced scientific knowledge and discovery. This change does not mean that past NECAP data will not be utilized; teachers and administrators are working to ensure that the information from the test results is disaggregated and reviewed. Chalk Talk: The Importance of Hidden Scholarships

College is expensive. There are a few ways to curb the costs, the most common of which is the use of scholarships. Some scholarships are academic in nature, others are rewarded for athletic prowess, and still others are awarded for theatrical, musical, or artistic talent. While these are the most commonly approached avenues for scholarship money, it is just as important to pursue monetary assistance from organizations that may not come to mind immediately. For example, there are scholarships for those who can trace their descendants directly to the Mayflower. There are also scholarships for those who demonstrate an aptitude for goat herding. Many companies also look to award college-bound students with a small scholarship. It is important to be vigilant when applying for scholarships, and sometimes creative hunting can pay off.
