Jackson District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Students in the Teton County School District learn following the Wyoming Content Performance Standards, a comprehensive series of detailed frameworks that guide the instructional process in each subject area. The curriculum uses standards for learning, which means that all students are expected to gain the same abilities and knowledge. The standards follow along pathways, or strands, of learning in each subject so that skills develop over the years into meaningful abilities.
We currently cover the following Jackson-area school district: Teton County School District No. 1.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Jackson District Curriculum
Teton County School District follows Wyoming State Mathematics Standards and The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics directives on math education. Data analysis & probability, measurement, geometry, algebra, number and operations are the standards. Students learn how to use probability thoughtfully, use measuring tools correctly, explain the use of geometric shapes, comprehend patterns and operations, as well as many other skills before they graduate.
Language Arts also plays a significant role in student learning. Writing, listening, reading, information literacy, and speaking are the learning strands focused on in the subject. Through grade-level expectations in these skills students learn about phonological awareness, grammar and composition, word meaning, and develop their critical thinking skills. These skills are also taught in conjunction with the development of informational, persuasive, and other types of writing styles.

Chalk Talk: How to Be Supportive of Your Child’s Academic Career
School plays a huge role in the first part of your student’s life. How you support your student can help him or her be successful in school. Always keep up communication with your student’s teacher. Any form of communication is better than none. This includes notes, phone and personal conversations, either weekly or every few weeks. Check in with your child about once a week to see how he or she is doing in his or her classes. Keep track of papers that get returned, as well as grades and make sure they line up with the final grades given. If your child needs help with homework, assist your child or find someone who will guide your child in the right direction. Reward your child when they get good grades to help encourage them to do their best.
