Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Pensacola District Curriculum
The elementary Language Arts curriculum of Escambia County School District centers on writing, viewing, listening, speaking, and reading. In middle school, students refine their reading and writing processes, learn the importance of language, study different literary forms, and learn to respond critically to different types of communication. High school students diversify their skills by taking classes in speech, debate, creative writing, and journalism.
In Science class, elementary students can be expected to study matter, energy, forces, motion, geology, space, life processes, and environments. Middle school students explore scientific measurement, cells, body systems, ecosystems, minerals, the atmosphere, atoms, electricity, magnetism, and adaptation. High school students are given more learning opportunities through biology, chemistry, anatomy, zoology, physics, marine biology, and integrated science.
