Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Hallandale Beach District Curriculum

The elementary Mathematics curriculum of Broward Schools teaches basic operations, place value, decimals, fractions, word problems, factors, multiples, shapes, measurement, and graphs. In middle school, students learn proportions, linear equations, surface area, volume, perimeter, area, probability, and histograms. High school students are taught data analysis, scientific notation, the Pythagorean Theorem, finances, and advanced problem solving.

In Science class, elementary students learn about healthy lifestyles, the Milky Way, the water cycle, human anatomy, environmental changes, interdependence of organisms, and scientific investigation. Middle school students are taught about light, photosynthesis, experimentation, theories, atoms, and the laws of thermodynamics.
