- School Board Recognized - Leadership is a key element for school boards, and Craven County’s has it under control. Given by the North Carolina School Boards Association, the inaugural award for this essential quality was given in November to the Craven County Board of Education.
- What is Craven County? - Based on an idea from Spoon River Anthology, a collection of poems, Ike Smith’s English students at Craven Early College created their answers to this question. Using video footage, essays, photos, and other inspired items, students are creating, revising and editing, and publishing an anthology that has personal ties.

Chalk Talk: Staying Organized
Half the battle in earning good grades is staying organized. Even if you aren’t required to do so for a class, get a binder that is devoted to just that class. Put dividers in it, and label them according to what types of work you have for that class. Keep your notes in the binder, as well as any work that is handed back to you. For example, for English class, you may have dividers labeled Notes, Vocabulary, Essays, Quizzes/Tests, and News Articles. It will take only seconds at the end of each class period to file your papers. When it comes time to study for a test, everything is easily accessible.
