Carpentersville District and Curriculum
The districts mission is to enable students to reach their potential as self-directed learners and responsible citizens. The curriculum follows the Illinois Common Core standards for Mathematics and English Language Arts in order to guarantee that students receive standardized educational opportunities regardless of location or any other learning differences. The Social Studies curriculum helps students understand history and current events, as well as concepts in politics, economics, geography, and civics. The Science curriculum introduces topics in earth and environmental science, biology, chemistry and physics.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Carpentersville District Curriculum
The Mathematics curriculum implements key concepts such as numbers and order of operations on a primary level. By focusing on fewer concepts more in depth during the year, these concepts are thoroughly explored and the students’ mastery is ensured. Once this foundation has been implemented, students then explore more complex ideas. The science curriculum follows the Next Generation Science standards which emphasize key concepts, implemented early on, in order to explore and examine the physical world.
The English Language Arts curriculum focuses on nonfiction and complex texts in lieu of fiction and poetry. It also focuses on analytical writing; students are expected to analyze the reading, form opinions, gather evidence to back up their conclusions, and test those theories. Vocabulary is also a focus. The goal of all of these curricula is to encourage students to become life-long learners and to give them the tools they need to succeed in post-secondary education.
