Their curriculum combines both the experience that their educators provide and the foundation laid by Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. This is a progressive curriculum which builds skills from kindergarten into concept level understanding by high school. Once students are in high school, they also have more options to pursue a specialized course of study in an area of interest. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Round Rock District Curriculum
Students at Round Rock schools begin the reading curriculum by learning how to hold a book and how to follow the words. Through the next few years they learn to ask and answer questions about their reading. This places the seeds in place to further their knowledge by helping them learn about plot, theme, inference, dramas, expository writing and more. These students are exposed to a variety of genres through in-class and independent reading.
The science curriculum shows students at Round Rock schools that science is all around them. Beginning in kindergarten where they begin by learning the basics of the parts and life cycle of a plant. As they progress through school, students learn how to look at the plant's life more in-depth. They begin to look at the smaller parts of a plant that allows it to live, such as the plant cells. They also compare plant cells with animal cells to see exactly what the differences are.

- DECA Club Activities - DECA helps students develop skills that they can use to be a success when they enter the business world. Chalk Talk: Asking Questions of a Child
Quite often, parents will ask a child, "How was school today?" They then receive a shrug or an "I don't know." By asking more specific questions, parents can find out more and then see if they can help a child. When they come home, ask specifically what they did in a certain subject. If they still shrug, the parent can then find out if they child just doesn't want to talk of if they truly do not know. When asking about homework it works better if a parent asks what the teacher has assigned in a subject. Also if a child is not doing well in a subject, asking them if the subject is too hard or easy can open the door to why the child feels this way and how the parent can help. Also if there is an issue with bullying ask the child about what they did at recess or at lunch. By asking specific question, parents can then keep the door of communication open throughout a child's education.
