The Writing curriculum at Lewisville schools begins by making sure students are experts at letter formation. - Academic Decathlon - The United Academic Decathlon is a competition which is made up of ten-events. Each team consists of “A” students, “B” students and “C” students and each year the competition is based on a theme. One recent theme was World War I. By working as a team, students learn to honor each other’s ideas while competing against teams from other schools. The competitions begin at the local level, then can progress on to state or national, depending on the results of each meet.
- Asian Club - The Lewisville Asian Club helps students understand the culture and the traditions of the Asian culture. This is done through academic matter and through sharing of opinions and news that each student shares. It also allows students to be familiar with students from other cultures.
- Drama Club - The drama club offers and outlet for students who have the desire to be actors or work behind the scenes in dramatic productions. Through participation in this group, students can learn how to work together to finish a production that can then be presented to an audience.

Students have a difficult time understanding the world around them. Many have difficulties understanding geographic locations or which language is spoken where. To help a child have better success in the world around them, try to bring the world to them. Place a world map in the room where the child plays the most, or place a globe on their study area. Locate a place when it is mentioned on the television or in some reading material. While locating the area, talk with the child about the place or try to find information on the location together. When the opportunity arises, allow the child to study a different language or study about a foreign place. Another way to bring the world into the home is to host a foreign exchange student. Each of these ideas allows the family to become more familiar with a different culture.
