Readington Township District and Curriculum
Readington Township, New Jersey has three public school districts. Students in kindergarten through the eighth grade attend the Readington Township Public Schools. Students in grades 9-12 attend the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District. Students in high school can also choose to apply to the Hunterdon County Polytech Career Academy, which offers a number of career and vocational education programs for students who want to be career-ready upon graduation. Each of the three districts seek to provide students with safe and caring learning environments in which they can reach their fullest academic, social and emotional potential.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Readington Township District Curriculum
Curriculum development in the Readington Township Public Schools is undertaken to ensure that all students receive a comprehensive education that provides them with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in future educational or career pursuits. The structure and content of the district’s curriculum is derived from the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the Common Core State Standards. The former gives guidance with regard to learning targets for all other content areas.
All students in Readington Township Public Schools take part in the medicines strand of the health and physical education curriculum. Students learn about the difference between commonly used medicines and explain why they should be used as directed. The potential for abusing over-the-counter drugs is discussed, with students identifying the short and long-term impacts of misusing medicines. Students learn how medicines have different effects on people, both in terms of their efficacy for treating ailments as well as the potential side effects.

- Warren Is Teacher of the Year - Hunterdon Central High School social studies teacher Lindsay Warren has been named Hunterdon County’s Teacher of the Year 2013. Ms. Warren received the award for her dedication to providing exceptional learning opportunities for her students.
- Art Adorns Hallways - Fifth grade students at Holland Brook School recently helped artist Dan Fenelon paint murals in the school’s main hallway. Fenelon also explained the artistic process to fourth grade students while he worked.
- BYOD at Middle School - Students at Readington Middle School are encouraged to bring their personal laptops and tablets to school as part of the Bring Your Own Device Program. The program is meant to encourage the use technology to help students complete assignments and conduct research.

Today’s students will enter a workforce even more technological than it is today, so it’s vital that students get hands-on experience using technology to complete tasks. Lastly, utilizing technology keeps the learning environment active and engaging. Rather than passively listening to a lecture, students can engage themselves in gathering information, evaluating its value and coming to conclusions all on their own.
