North Arlington District and Curriculum
Most public school students in North Arlington, New Jersey are educated by the North Arlington School District. The district includes three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, which have a combined population of approximately 1,500 students. High school students in North Arlington can apply to attend the Bergen County Technical Schools, which offers a number of college-prep academies and a variety of career and vocational classes. Both the North Arlington School District and the Bergen County Technical Schools seek to provide students with the practical knowledge and life and career skills that they will need in order to develop into active and productive members of society.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the North Arlington District Curriculum
The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards have been adopted by all districts in the state, and outline student learning targets in: health and physical education, visual and performing arts, 21st Century life and careers, world languages, technology, science and social studies. Math and language arts standards are derived from the Common Core State Standards.
Preparing students for life and work in the 21st Century is a primary component of the curriculum offered by both local school districts. Within the curriculum is the critical thinking and problem-solving strand. Students in elementary school learn how to recognize problems, brainstorm solutions and work collaboratively with others to come to a solution. Middle school students expand on these skills by identifying ways in which institutions, organizations and foreign governments approach problem solving. High schoolers take the learning one step further and engage in strategy and planning sessions to address real-life problems in their school and community.

Keeping Informed: Recent North Arlington Educational News
- Model UN - Students from the Bergen County Academies recently competed in the Model UN competition at Rutgers University. The participants won many individual and team honors.
- Grant Received - Students from the Bergen County Technical Schools received a $1,000 prize for their submission to the BCUA 2013 Environmental Challenge Program and will be used to promote environmental education.
- The Viking Saga - The Viking Saga is now an online publication and all members of the community can learn about the goings-on in the schools from the students themselves. Events, opinions and other newsworthy information is regularly updated on their site.
