Greeley District and Curriculum
The Greeley-Evans School District follows Colorado Academic Standards as the basis of the educational program from elementary through secondary school. The standards cover subjects including the core of Math, Science, Language Arts, World Languages and Social Studies and also provides objectives in the areas of Health and Physical Education, the Arts and Personal Financial Literacy. An overarching goal of the curriculum is to integrate classroom learning into practical understanding by providing as many relevant examples of how the subject works in the real world.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Greeley District Curriculum
The Math curriculum covers topics of numerical operations, algebraic thinking, geometry, and data analysis in such a way that during the early years students are introduced to the basics of all topics and then build a framework for problem-solving in different areas of math as they continue on. Students also study how math and music are related to further enhance their understanding of the subject and show how math functions in the real world. Students are also introduced to economic concepts such as Stock Markets to gain more insight into the practicality of math.
The Language Arts curriculum is broken down into Reading, Writing and Communicating, and the many skills and strategies inherent to each. Reading is taught so that students learn to appreciate literature, have time to read independently and are also introduced to non-fiction texts such as newspapers or editorials. Students are also introduced to scholarly works so they are able to access that type of literature in their own research.

- Summit Extended Day Learning Program - The Summit Extended Day Learning Program is for students who want to have extra classroom exposure to core subjects but in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, before and/or after school. The program offers small classes with the schools teachers that focus on math, science and literacy and that also emphasize project-based and collaborative learning.
- AVID Program - AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a program for middle and high schoolers that offer them the chance to take an elective that is focused on preparing students for college level academics. Students pick up study skills, writing skills and are exposed to information about what they should be doing to prepare for college planning.
- Career Pathways - Career Pathway programs have been instituted at the high school so that students who want to specialize their academic experience in a certain area that ties into future professional goals can do so. Programs include areas such as Criminal Justice, Entrepreneurship, Health Science and a great many other options.

Many high schools in Colorado and across the nation are instituting programs such as Career Pathways to help students find their niche prior to graduation. In a large district, students will have access to a greater number of options and may choose to specialize their high school education by focusing on a topic such as health science or criminal justice in pursuit of a future as a doctor or lawyer. Not every student knows what he or she will want to do upon graduation and they should be comfortable pursuing a more generalized education which will help them to define and refine their goals. This is an area where there is no "wrong" choice for a student; specializing will not mean they will be denied a broad education and taking a general approach will mean being introduced to a wide variety of subjects and future options.
