Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Brandon District Curriculum

The curriculum establishes progressive goals for learning so that students develop their abilities in the major topics of a subject and gain in their ability to do complex work each year. Students also explore various aptitudes that jobs require, and compare those with their personal strengths. A connection between classroom learning and the workplace is made, with students identifying how what they learn today is applicable to their working lives later on. Students also devise educational plans in order to fulfill typical expectations for their job of choice and be prepared for the requirements of college academics.

There are specialized curriculum developed for programs like Sustainable Development, Technology Education and Diversity Learning. All of these curriculum have been developed through collaboration of the Department of Education with educators and professionals who describe what it is a student should learn during their studies. These programs combine field and pre-professional experience with classroom learning which provides an integrated approach that helps students realize the applicability of each lesson.
