Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fayetteville District Curriculum
The Language Arts curriculum has been designed so that when students learn reading comprehension and analysis skills they cover all types of reading they will encounter in their courses. Non-fiction is taught regularly and students are instructed in how to find information that helps them in research projects as well as for independent reading. The process of writing is also emphasized so that students have the various skills that go into pre-writing and brainstorming, drafting, editing and revising, and presenting their work.
The science curriculum offers students the opportunity to learn how scientists use inquiry methods to answer questions and solve problems in our world. Throughout their schooling experience, students learn about various topics and concepts in science, then use a variety of higher order thinking skills to take on the role of a scientist and become problem solvers.

Chalk Talk: Graduation
Whether it is from kindergarten, elementary school, middle or high school, this day is an important one for you and your child. Just as you notice your child developing and growing older from grade to grade, the graduation marks the moment they have “officially” grown up. Your child not only is excited because it’s a celebration of them, but it is also usually comes with getting out of school a little earlier than the other grade levels. Your child won’t have school or homework for those following days, like the younger students, and are ready to play and be with their friends. Allow this time for your student to become a child or teen again while capturing it all and recognizing the accomplishments they’ve made in school. The photos, yearbook, graduation parties and dinners will give you and your student the time to be together without the distraction of assignment due or exam.
