Hamburg District and Curriculum
The Hamburg Central School District serves the towns of Hamburg, Boston, Eden, and Orchard Park in New York state. The district is made up of four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district currently consist of over 3,700 students. The curriculum followed by the Hamburg Central School District is based on the New York State Learning Standards and the New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Hamburg District Curriculum
The New York State Learning Standards, which the state first adopted in 1996, serve as a guide for the development of a standards-based curriculum in subjects such as social studies, music, and science. The New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards, which the state first adopted in 2011, guide the development of the district’s English Language Arts and math curricula.
The English Language arts curriculum ensures that students possess college- and career-level literacy by the time they have reached the end of high school. It does this by setting standards for reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language use in all subject areas. The math curriculum requires students at all grade-levels to develop important skills such as analysis, abstract reasoning, and problems solving. It then encourages students to apply these skills to real-world situations in which they use mathematics to solve problems.

Keeping Informed: Recent Hamburg Educational News
- District Report Card - The New York Department of Education has released Hamburg High School’s report card data for the 2013-2013 academic year. The report show that, in spite of budge cuts, the school is still performing well. One hundred percent of the school’s general education graduates earned Regents Diplomas, 98% of the students who took the Regents Examination in Geometry passed it, and the school had a 95% graduation rate.
- School Fundraisers - Students and staff at Union Pleasant Elementary School have collected over 26,000 Box Tops for Education. This has earned close to $3,000 for the school’s Technology Committee. The committee will use the money to buy devices that students will be ale to use at school.
- Olympics of the Visual Arts - Hamburg High School students took part in the Olympics of the Visual Arts in Saratoga Springs, New York. The group competed against students from other regional high schools to create on demand works of art. The Hamburg High School students walked away with 2nd place honors in Drawing and 1st place honors in Sculpture.
