Chalk Talk: The Importance of a Healthy Home Life for Students
When it comes to health and school, the two cannot be easily separated. The importance of healthy students is paramount. The role that home life serves in this pursuit is essential. School is helpful for promoting a healthy lifestyle, but that lifestyle must be enforced at home. Things such as a good night’s sleep, a health breakfast and dinner, and adequate social and family time are invaluable to a students’ learning experience. Students who are deficient in sleep are noted to do more poorly in class as it is more difficult for them to pay attention and retain information. The same can be said for students who lack healthy meals at home. Students who skip breakfast have much greater difficulty in performing to their full potential in the classroom. In contrast, students who have a healthy home life are much more likely to perform their best in the school environment as well.
