Chalk Talk: Phones in School
It’s no secret that students bringing phones to class is causing new problems for teachers. There was a time when the only communication that teachers had to worry about was communication between classmates. Now, with so many students bringing the phones to school, teachers have to worry about students playing video games, watching videos, listening to music, and communicating with people who are even in the same school. Parents who send children to school with phones should ask themselves whether or not children having constant access to their phones is really worth the trouble. If parents decide it is not worth it, they need to tell their children to leave their phones at home. There are reasons such as contacting parents, if needed, or being able to arrange transportation in a pinch, but these can also be handled from the school office and so you and your child should have a thorough conversation about what is really necessary.
