Chalk Talk: How to Prepare for College
Preparing for college is both exciting and intimidating. It requires some amount of guidance and know-how as well. When you are preparing for college, make sure you have applied and turned in all required documentation. This includes filling out all applicable financial aid and scholarship forms. Once accepted, you can pay applicable fees by their deadlines and sign up for dorms, classes and meal plans. You should also start looking into what text books you will need. Unlike high school, textbooks are not given to you to use for the year. Renting them online or buying them used ahead of time from sources such as EBay and Amazon can save you a lot of money. If you are paying for your books using financial aid, you may need to buy them through the school bookstore, however. If buying them through there, find out if there is a book swap at your school and look for used books if you need to cut costs. Finally, show up for orientation and classes. Listen carefully to instructions and get ready to enjoy an exciting new year of education.
