Chalk Talk: Time Management – Even During the Summer

Even during the summer, children can learn or continue time management of their activities. Whether in sports, play dates, sports conditioning, camps or school-related activities, children should be able to get all their activities and responsibilities accomplished as they would during the school year. If your child followed a schedule during the school year, one (a little less formal or structured) could be made for the summer. Have your child mark down on a calendar when certain activities are planned. Any reading or projects that have to be completed before the school year begins can be included on that calendar, marking down the amount of time to be spent or set aside during certain days. By managing their activities and responsibilities at a more relaxed time of the year, students will maintain this skill during a busier time of year. And if just learning this organizational skill, the summer months are perfect for students to then continue it during the school year.
