EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that people learn in a variety of ways. As the teacher, it is my job to accommodate those different learning styles. I also believe that learning should be fun and include a variety of exciting activities. I believe in guiding students to discover the answers on their own. This helps them learn the material but also helps them develop problem solving and analytical skills.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in History and Romance Languages, with a minor in Latin American Studies. I have an master’s degree in History from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I wrote a thesis during my tenure at the University of Massachusetts, which has provided me with excellent writing and grammar skills to help students with writing and research projects.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have several years of experience in the educational field, from sports and language instruction to subject-specific teaching. I was a preschool teacher for many years. More recently I have begun teaching history courses for a local community college. I have taught every age group and ability.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an avid skier and outdoor enthusiast. I love to hike, bike, and snowshoe.
