Every child deserves a quality education. Without it, their chances are slim for becoming a productive member of society. All children are capable of learning, but they learn at different paces and in different styles. Children need to experience success in learning. They need a supportive environment that will encourage them to learn. With support and healthy self-esteem, they can achieve their goals.

I graduated from West Carteret High School in Morehead City in 1985. I received two associate degrees at Carteret Community College (1987 & 1989) prior to beginning my studies in education. In 1993, I received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in Greenville. In 2000, I received a master’s degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University.

I have taught in both public and private school settings. My classroom teaching experience has been in second and third grade classrooms. I have also been a Title I Reading teacher. Most recently, I have been a teacher for home bound students in kindergarten through the twelfth grade.

I am an active member of the Salter Path United Methodist Church, where I serve as pianist, give the children’s sermon, and prepare the weekly bulletin.
